Spend A Week With Us In Paris
Charming architecture, high fashion, delicious pastries, marvelous art, and deep history are some of the qualities that make Paris one of the most special cities in the world. Spending a week exploring the wonderful cafes, parks, museums and shops, we fell deeper in love with the Parisian way of life; seeking leisure and enjoyment. We hope you enjoy discovering each of our favorite spots in this forever treasured city.
Hotel Rochechouart
Settled near the bottom of the famed hill of Montmartre, Hotel Rochechouart, located in the 9th arrondissement was by far our favorite hotel stay in the city. We enjoyed their beautiful Rooftop with views of all of Paris and ordered the grilled Octopus which my daughter proceeded to ask for every night there after. The exterior of the hotel is decorated with ornate gold molding and red framed windows, creating an inviting and grand entrance. Stepping in, the interior is more subdued. A soft-lit meditative space with retro furniture and inviting book shelves, the hotel lobby welcomes you into a friendly and intimate setting.
Staying in our cozy room, we felt the timeless elegance the city of Paris embodies. Its Art Deco aesthetic combines alluring architectural and interior designs from the hotel’s opening in 1929 with subtle contemporary details. We enjoyed the hotels’ simple pleasures of fluffy beds, views of the charming landscape, and warm atmosphere. The staff was incredibly friendly & accommodating!
Tuileries Garden
For us, the Tuileries Garden are at the heart of Paris where you can catch a breath of fresh air away from the crowds. Set between the Louvre, the Place de la Concorde and the Seine, this area is easy to stumble upon and perfect to spend a leisurely afternoon at. The park’s colorful rose gardens, marble sculptures, and tranquil fountains exude peace and quiet. We loved roaming up and down the tree tunneled paths, lounging by the duck ponds and grabbing a cappuccino at one of the garden’s small cafes.
For kids, you can rent mini sailboats for them to play with in the pond in the corner of the park. There’s also a playground, carousel and trampoline park adding to the fun of the kid-friendly city. I was able to finish an entire novel while my daughter played at the park & made some new friends!
Musée Picasso-Paris
The Picasso Museum is located in the Hôtel Salé, holding an extensive collection of artworks by the twentieth-century Spanish artist Pablo Picasso, with a total of 4251 of his works. Roaming around the gallery we were immersed in the famous artist’s life like never before. Holding nearly 300 paintings, and even more sculptures, drawings and illustrations, the museum’s collection of Picasso’s work is by far the richest in the world.
Each exhibition beautifully illuminated Picasso’s legacy displaying familiar pieces and the influence he began from the 20th century and on. Some of our favorites were his ceramic sculptures, including Head of A Woman and his vibrant cubist paintings.
Les Antiquaires
Located steps away from the Seine, the restaurant Les Antiquaires offers a traditional taste of Paris with fine bistro cuisine, prepared by brilliant and innovative chefs. Their classical menu complements the café’s warm vintage interior. A French man shucking fresh oysters outside the restaurant caught our eye, and before we knew it we were sitting down ordering a half dozen of our own.
We sipped the delicious oysters down, accompanied by a plate piled high with shoestring fries. The Caesar au poulet crispy, Burrata crémeuse & tomates cerises and Saumon fumé & ses toasts were also excellent shares for our small table.
Parc Monceau
A walk in Parc Monceau is one like no other. Surrounded by wrought iron gates embellished with gold, this park is a peaceful retreat tucked away from the streets. Entering through the gates, we first spotted a carousel spinning next to a sweet-scented creperie before going deeper into the park to discover a more serene space.
On our stroll, we spotted old statues of famous French figures standing out against the lush environment. Pleasantly surprised by this outdoor museum-like experience, we slowly made our way around the park’s large pond and wildflower patches. With benches lining the park’s path and large grassy areas, Parc Monceau is a charming spot to relax, read and settle into the quieter side of the Paris.

During the 1930’s in Paris, the city was buzzing with budding creatives, including Picasso and Brassai who became fast friends amid the growing art scene. Photographer, Brassai had a knack for capturing the juxtaposition of the city’s various moods. He also documented many artist and writer friends, such as Salvador Dalí, Henri Matisse, Alberto Giacometti, Jean Genet—and Picasso, whom he first met in 1932 and whose sculptural work he was the first to photograph.
This book showcases Brassai’s beloved black-and-white portraits of this magical era, with a focus of mostly photographs of Picasso at work as well as away from his studio. It includes a text by Henry Miller that provides a viveting context of this noteworthy period.
