Pablo Picasso

Born in Malaga, Spain, the son of an art teacher, Pablo Picasso began his art studies when the family moved to Barcelona, where he studied first at the School of Fine Arts, then at the Madrid Academy from 1897. With a tremendous influence on 20th century art, Picasso’s work varies from authentic and original styles of paint, sculpture, print, and lithographs, ceramics and design.

Established as a figure of modernity, Picasso remains one of the most influential artists in history, challenging all of the conventional styles and movements of his time within his art. He established the direction of Cubism creating new forms of expression in drawing form. Not only does Picasso’s work tie into our artistic culture today, but his unforgettable personality continues to make an impact on artists and creators alike.
