La Fábrica is one of Ricardo Bofill’s legendary creations. A former cement factory outside of Barcelona, noticed by Bofill while driving, the building’s transformation became the late Catalan architect’s life, existing as his home and as the headquarters of his practice since 1973.
Ricardo built a unique space, exposing the concrete forms from under years of dust and welcoming nature back into the structure. It represents one of the earliest examples of the reuse of an industrial building.
